Brad Scriber
I want to help you tell your story, hone your message, and keep the trust of your audience. Let’s find the right words together.
My Background
I have a twenty-year track record of creating and editing world-class journalism, profiles, explainers, promotional materials, and other writing.
I’ve written for National Geographic, the Washington Post, the Boston Globe, NPR, Poynter, American University, the Bezos Earth Fund, and others.
As a fact-checker I’ve protected the reputations of trusted brands such as National Geographic and AARP as well as those of news outlets and book authors. I’ve led National Geographic’s research department and trained hundreds of journalists in the fundamentals of pre-publication fact-checking.

Services
Writing and Editing
At times I’ve found a story in a group of acrobats hanging from city streetlights, or in a cherry-pit spitting small-town festival queen with a towering tiara.
Other times it’s been in NASA’s protocol for preemptively blowing up a rocket during launch or the efforts of historic preservationists to protect the mission debris left on the moon after the Apollo landings.
There are also great stories waiting in archived letters and stacks of grant reports, and I love bringing them to the surface.
I’m eager to help you find the stories you need to tell.
Fact-checking
Nothing reduces errors like a second set of eyes. I can help you avoid mistakes and give you the peace of mind that comes from a close review of your sourcing.
I’ve fact-checked all types of content: narrative nonfiction articles; books; fast-moving news stories; podcasts. Let’s talk about your project and how I can protect the hard work you’ve put into it.
